Whistler, Canada
Best known as one of the best mountain bike destinations in the world, the Whistler is a must see for any traveller. Situated in the magnificent coast mountains of British Columbia, Whistler offers over 120 miles of trails with many accessible by the chair lifts. The trails are especially good for beginners and experts alike, as you can find different coaching courses if you’re looking to brush up on your skills. There’s a lot more riding to explore than just the trails in the Bike Park though, so make sure you get exploring and book a guide when you visit.
Zugspitze, Germany
Made up of the two German towns, Garmish and Partenkirchen lays the tallest mountain in Germany, the Zugspitze. Home to a number of traditional spots where you can dine at communal tables and enjoy hearty Bavarian food and beer, the Zugspitze is best travelled with friends. Enjoy the picturesque scenery as you hike up this fantastic mountain.
Hood River, Oregon
Standing at a surprising 11,249 feet, lays Mount Hood in Oregon. It can be said that the beauty of this mountain is definitely not just up in the air as it is situated amongst what could be said to be a sports loving town. The town rests on the edge of the historical Columbia River Gorge, which draws lots of windsurfers due to its steeply pitched river and high velocity winds. So why not travel with friends and take a scenic drive along Lewis and Clark’s route along the Columbia River from Hood River and appreciate the surrounding apple and pear orchards alongside the Multnomah Galls which is on the tallest waterfalls in America. However, if you’re looking for the ultimate adventure why not try camping on the mountain and take in the panoramic views.
Cauterets, France
Situated 20 miles from the famous pilgrimage site of Lourdes, the Cauterets is best known to have its own healing powers from its thermal hot springs. Located high in the Pyrenees, the town’s therapeutic waters and natural beauty have drawn visitors from around the world. After a day hiking or skiing, why not spend the afternoon at one of the towns best known spas, the Cesar Spa, relaxing or swimming. We recommend you take a weekend break to admire the surrounding architecture and wildlife of Cauterets. A stroll along the narrow streets of Cauterets will show a variety of Belle Epoch–era buildings and their colourful wrought-iron balconies.
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
If you want to try out something different than you need to visit the Valle de la Luna in Chile. Here you’ll find the earth’s direst desert outside the town of San Pedro de Atacama. The mountain Valle de la Luna gained its name due to its moon-like landscape and unearthly scenery. This is surely a one of a kind visit, the Valle de la Luna is situated below the volcano of Licancabur, however do not worry as this volcano has been dormant for decades. We would recommend spending 5 days in this magnificent town and would suggest you try sandboarding which is the desert equivalent to snowboarding on the dunes outside the town. During the night why don’t you take in the beautiful views of the San Pedro de Atacama Celestial Exploration (SPACE), the largest public observatory in Chile, with its near perfect star-gazing conditions.
There’s a world of opportunity out there just waiting to be explored, so make sure you don’t miss out! Remember, the only thing that’s limiting you is your imagination.
