U.S. check-in & preclearance: Check-in begins 3 hours prior to departure and closes 1 hour prior to departure for all U.S. gateways. To avoid lines, check-in online up to 48 hours before departure. All Etihad customers flying to the United States will have access to Abu Dhabi International Airport’s United States Preclearance facility in Terminal 3. This facility enables Etihad customers to pre-clear the U.S. Customs and Border Protection formalities before boarding their flights in Abu Dhabi. Upon arrival in the U.S., customers will be treated as domestic arrivals. Shorter connection times are possible for onward flights in the U.S., with their luggage arriving to the final destination.
